PACFA REGISTERED COUNSELLOR

Hi, I’m Naaz

I work with people who are experiencing identity, belonging, and relationship challenges.

This includes learning to reconcile queerness with cultural and religious identity, overcoming the impacts of toxic family systems, navigating life as a newly single person, or career changes that challenge who you are and how you see yourself. I help people identify and embrace the different and ‘incompatible’ parts of themselves through exploring values, desires, pressures, and past experiences.

As well as supporting people to thrive as their most authentic selves, I have experience working with depression, anxiety, grief, self-esteem and shame, sexuality, and recovery from trauma.

Counselling & Psychotherapy Services

  • Individual counselling provides a safe space to learn emotional regulation skills and explore the deeper issues behind difficult feelings.

Together we can explore short-term stressors to lingering problems like depression, anxiety, anger, and resentment.

  • Queer-affirming therapy offers a safe place where you can unpack your sexuality and gender, or simply know that those parts of you will be held and seen with validation and compassion.

  • Relationship grief is especially painful without support. There’s no perfect timeline for when you should be ‘over it’. I offer a space to work through all the messy lows and help you find your way to the other side.

  • Our attachment styles show up in dating, friendships, and when we’re around family. If you are stuck in a relationship style or pattern, I can help you learn skills for healthy regulation and new ways to find connection.

  • Culturally-informed therapy is an opportunity to tackle layered issues that don’t have a simple solution. This includes to balancing family expectations, dealing with a religious upbringing that no longer ‘feels right’, or simply needing a place where you can be seen and heard without any pressure to ‘tone it down’.

  • The origins of shame are layered. In therapy, I provide a place to understand why shame here and where it comes from. By learning to unpack shame together, we ca make room for other more nurturing parts of yourself.

  • Families are where we first learn about ourselves, others, and how to navigate the world around us.

Understanding your family of origin means holding a compassionate but challenging lens to the people who’ve shaped you. In therapy, I provide support and guidance for this deeply healing and complex process.
